PRIDE SCRIMMAGE

On September 18, Rotterdam Roller Derby will host its annual Pride Scrimmage. Roller derby is a contact sport on roller skates, in which two teams compete against each other. It's a physical sport: you get hit, sometimes fall hard and then get back up.

Roller derby has grown up from a community that organized its own teams, competitions and events, outside the traditional sports world. The sport has strong feminist, queer and DIY roots. That mentality is still deep in sport: together we make the space we need. There is room for different bodies, genders, sexualities and different ways to experience the sport, as a skater, as an official or as a volunteer. Everyone is welcome.

With our Pride Scrimmage, we want to show that everyone can exercise together, no matter what body you have, what gender you have, your background or your sexuality. On the track, in the end, one thing is the most important thing: the team feeling. You help each other up, cheer each other on and go back on the track together.

Access for the public is free. And if you get the taste after the scrimmage, you can go on the track yourself the next day during our open training on September 19.  🌈
